Light and stronger natural fiber used to produce shells, similar to carbon fiber

Basalt fiber is a material made from extremely fine fibers of basalt, which is composed of several minerals. It´s similar to fiberglass but has better physio-mechanical properties than it. Basalt fiber offers a 20% higher strength compared to fiberglass by being only about 3,5% more weight. Furthermore, basalt fibers is a non-toxic and eco-compatible material characterized by easier recyclability when compared with fiberglass.
